Akron + Car Jumper + Nike = Portland?
Published by Tim H on June 10th, 2008.

Maybe that equation doesn’t make sense… Anywho, I just came across the Chris Bryant “Car Jumper” commercial while doing some Akron-based research. While I was well aware of the existence of Chris and his odd claim to fame, I had yet to actually see the ad.

Of course I assumed the backdrop would be none other than our fair city (maybe Chris jumping over an old Chevy Nova in front of Wally Waffles?). But I was surprised/appalled/comforted–in that order–to see Chris running across the Broadway Bridge in downtown Portland, Oregon. Then it all came to me in a flash (or swoosh?): Nike’s world headquarter is in Beaverton (a Portland suburb); Nike’s ad agency, Wieden + Kennedy (creators of “Just Do It”), is in downtown Portland; jumping over cars looks way cooler when it’s gray and rainy outside.

Why does this matter to you, dear reader? It probably doesn’t. I just wanted to state some facts and point out how sweet Chris Bryant is. Check it:
