The idea of Akron celebrities has been mentioned in past articles. I have always thought the idea of an Akron celebrity was pretty funny.
To be an Akronite means a lot of things to a lot of people. For me it simply means Luigi’s, Crest Bakery, Mary Coyle, The Peanut Shoppe, The Christmas Tree Festival at Quaker Square, Café Momus, Dontino’s, Thursday’s, the Odd Corner and of course Akron U.
Akron is attempting to be one of the first cities in the nation to support a free wi-fi network downtown. There has been a good deal of buzz about this for two good reasons: one, there is a lot of buzz and support surrounding the effort, and two, this has never been successful on any large scale basis before.
There’s stuff on the walls, à la Applebee’s. And, yes, this is a chain restaurant with locations as far spread as Plano, Texas. But…
Jazz vocalist Helen Welch and the Akron Symphony Orchestra perform classics from the Great American Songbook in this special one-night only concert at the Lock 3 amphitheater.
